Our history
Duke Street is an independent Private Equity company, majority-owned by its employees, with offices in London and Paris.
We began life in 1988 as part of Hambros Bank under the name Hambro European Ventures.
Ten years later, the business was bought out from Hambros and renamed Duke Street Capital, continuing to invest in mid-market companies predominantly based in France and the UK. Our Managing Partner, Peter Taylor co-founded Duke Street when it was bought out from Hambros and took over its running in 2003.
In 2008 we re-branded ourselves as Duke Street.
Over the course of our history we have raised six, 10-year private equity funds valued at a total of more than €2.5 billion.
